    Patio awning storm damage
My patio awning is a sunsetter vinyl attached to my home. I purchased additional anti-pooling attachments for the awning. A recent storm broke the awning in the middle of the roller and caused damage to my deck and furniture. Will my homeowner's insurance pay for replacement?
This awning is up all year and over 4 years has held up very well. How can I ensure payment from insurance company.

If damage is caused by a storm, sometimes they call it an 'act of god' and don't cover it. If they do cover, you will have to pay your deductible. All you can do is call them and find out.

Storm damage is pretty much always covered but at varying levels. Talk to your agent before you call the claims office and actually file a claim. He/she can help you think this trough because your deductoble may be close to the actual repair costs and claims are held againist you. Too many claims and your rates can go up or you can be dropped so consider wisely.
