Want to put mulch around bottom of my half of trees
I have a house on 1 and 1/2 acres. There are about six trees that are on the property line. I want to put mulch around them so as to make it easier for my honey to mow around. Is it smart to do that when only half of each tree is on "my side"? Or would I be asking for trouble from the neighbors?

I would just ask the neighbors if you can put some mulch down around the trees. Don't use cocoa bean mulch, it can poison dogs.

I can try that. But I will tell you they aren't very friendly people and they come outside and stare when we just trim branches on our side from the very same trees.

Maybe they want you to trim their side <G>.
Remember to leave a space between the trunk and where the mulch starts.
You can always invest in rubber mulch mats and you'll never have to do it again. <G>.

Maybe!
Hmm, never heard of rubber mulch mats. Can you buy those anywhere? And how do they work if you don't mind taking the time to explain...

Here is a link with a picture.
Tree Borders: Mulch mats - TREE RING MULCH MATS - Recycled Goods - Halt Weed Growth
Look at the 20" variety before the price give you a heart attack.
Ace hardware has them listed on their website. I saw them at a farm supply store. They don't look too bad. Just do a google search for "rubber mulch mat". Made from recycled tires so you'll know they will last.
See, I didn't make it up.

You can do anything you want to your side of the tree including trimming. Heck, you can trim branches on your side of the property line even if the tree trunck is entirely on their side. If you don't like dealing with them just mulch or turn the soil, your hubby should not be cutting around on their side anyway, watch out for land mines.

LMAO! You guys are great! I love it!! I will look into the mulch mats if it is less work for him and ME it would be fabulous!!
He doesn't cut their side of the grass, I just didn't want him to have to trim if I could help it. He is a hard working man and I try to save him as much trouble as I can. (Besides less work for him, means more time with me:D)
I REALLY appreciate it from EVERYONE! And keepitsimplestupid, even if you had made it up it is a really awesome idea! Lol
Thanks again. Will let you know if we find some trip wire!! :D
