    Quadratic Equations
    1. Perimeter of rectangle is 20 inches, area is 16 inches. Find measurements using quadratic formula and show quadratic equation.
    2. Perimeter of rectangle is 54 inches, area is 140 inches. Find measurements using quadratic formula and show quadratic equation.

    If you know how to do one then you should know how to do the other.
    Here's what you would do for the first one:

    let x be the length of the rectangle.
    let y be the width of the rectangle.

    So to calculate the area of the rectangle we have
    16 = x * y

    And to calculate the perimeter of the rectangle we have
    20 = x + x + y + y or 20 = 2x + 2y

    Now you have two equations and two unknows. Use these to solve for x and y.

    You got me here! :)

    How in the world can you have a rectangle whose permitter is larger that it's area. Also, area is given is sq. inches.

    Can you please re-state this problem.
