    Wiccan/ Occult
A friend and I were having a disagreement and we're both now trying to find answers as to proof that Wiccan practices are real and work, like spells, voodoo, black magic, etc.
I believe it's mind over matter - someone tells you that you're under a spell - wouldn't you - in the back of your mind be a bit weary/ skeptical - even so cautious as to create it all yourself?

But I am not ruling it out - I hardly have my own religion down - and would like an expert's opion and advice - and if there is someone who can answer this question - it would be appreciated.

    THANKS!

You are seriously misformed because Wiccan are not witches and there are no black spells associated with the Wiccan practi ce. Wiccans are earth based and for the good not evil.

I am not that susceptible that I would feel someone could put a spell on me. I don't associate with anyone who would even try.

Start reading seriously about the Wiccan practice and you will see it is all white and no black. Do some investigating, and as you say, 'get your own religion', and I hope it isn't any black.

Gees, I was NOT suggesting YOU.. . THIS is a general question.. . If we have to get specific, my friend who is young, naïve and heartbroken wants to do a love spell - and she was looking on line, and of course EVERYone is/was willing to do it for her - for a very large amount of cash

So, we had a discussion, and we even looked some of the people and organizations up, ALL frauds!

So, I wasn't suggesting anything bad, but just that if there is some proof for her sake

    I myself believe in ME!

I am glad you believe in YOU, misinformed. I knew it was a general question.

Big chip on your shoulder , my dear, must get rid of it before it weighs you down.

    Dear MsInformed

Believe whatever you prefer to believe. But please realize that there is no proof for any belief of any kind. The bottom line of BELIEF is that you accept some basic religious dogma's without factual objective evidence for that.
If you - like me - would be a strongly convinced human secularist, you would have no reason at all to query or consider issues like belief in spells, of the existence of gods, ghosts, or fairies, etc.
You simply would not be a bit weary or skeptical of anything religious. Not even in the back of your mind.
Please note that there are no honest unbiased experts to provide you with a fair view on (other) religion in general. They all have a personal bias towards their own personal worldview.

A Wiccan believer will answer you pro-Wiccan biased, just as a Christian will be pro-Christianity biased, and a Voodoo believer will be pro-Voodoo biased.
So you are asking for the impossible. All I suggest is that you focus on some good information on other religions, in this case on Wiccan , on Voodoo, and on Black Magic (which are all different beliefs !)

Credendovidis, is correct, who you talk to, I will not offend others but as a Christian I have a very exact opinon of Wicca which would differ greatly form what was posted here. And a person who does Voodoo would have a different view point on it also. Just as Credendovidis has his opinon of Wicca and Christianity and other faith based beliefs

    Dear MsInformed

The difference between Chuck's and my views is that I am not biased towards any specific religion.
And that is the reason for my advice to focus on some good information on other religions, in this case on Wiccan , on Voodoo, and on Black Magic (which are all different beliefs !)

Hey - thanks you ALL for your opinions - I believe I have an open outlook on things - and definitely agree - I've just been trying to help my friend - she wants to spend so much money for "love spells" (we're talking close to thousands) and to me, in MY opinion - that's a scam, right?? I'm not trying to force her out of her beliefs but to see that that is a scam, wouldn't you all do that for people you love in your life - help them.
I mean if there is someone that you all know of who can help her - I'll direct her there

    I'm Wiccan.

Love spells, especially for money, won't work. Period.

Spells, require a LOT of energy--usually about the same amount of energy as just getting up off your butt and putting the work into something. There are exceptions to that, obviously--protection spells and healing spells come to the forefront of my mind.

And--have you ever read "The Monkey's Paw"? You have to be EXTREMELY careful what you ask for when casting a spell. You could get what you want --but the WAY you get it could be disastrous.

And--addressing love spells specifically--"making someone fall in love with you" is black magic. Period. By casting that sort of a spell on someone, you are taking away their free will, and anytime you take away someone else's free will, that's BAD.

Why doesn't she just pursue the NORMAL avenues of getting to know and dating this person?

Well, she's IN love with this guy -they had known each other for some time as friends and then started dating after a year and then after a year of dating - poof! - he just broke up with her out of the blue, she's so heartbroken and could I even add suicidal - she's pretty desperate - she swears this guy is THE one - and out of nowhere she's telling me about love spells and what they were asking - so I had to intervene - they were asking her for hundreds/ close to thousands - but I'll tell her your suggestions, I'm not sure if I'll get through to her - but thank YOU

I believe that A lot of it is a hoax. I believe that there IS some from of supernatural power, but a lot of people beg for money. A lot of christan people, clame to heal, [Todd Bentley, benny hin, oral roberts, pat robertson], then beg for money. It's a hoax. When you cast a spell/pray/whatever for a job, and then appily for one and get it, you can't say, "oh, it worked!" That's like going to McDonalds, ordering, casting a spell for food, getting it, and saying "OH, IT WORKS". Until I've seen a 'money' spell casted, or a money prayre prayed, that instantly provides the money into the pocket of the caster/prayer... Its hoax to me.

    There's a website...
    Why Won't God Heal Amputees?
It deals with the christan faux-faith healers, but, it may be a good read. I was raised by young-earth-creationistic-jesus-freaks, that that website really answered the questions I got from using the brain my parents told me not too. It talks about how people could pray for/cast a spell for, a flu cure, and when the flu goes away, say, Woh! Awesome spell!
Cris Angel and David Blane have some pretty nice tricks. I have respect for them, they, though not revealing there method, admit that there 'magic' is a 'hoax'.

-- I being a deist beleve that yes, there are SOME 'magical' spells/pratices that work.

I have to say no real "WICCAN" would cast a love spell on someone. That would be going against that persons right to free will. Now casting a love spell to draw love toward you is a different thing. You have to be very specific when casting spells. Sometimes with love spells its not the person that you think that is drawn to you. So glad to see you are asking questions. I love open minds.

Tell her to wear red socks and blue panties for 3 months, while never talking to him, and chanting "I am a beautiful woman who deserves love and respect" 5 times in a row before bed

I swear to you, it'll work.

(of course, "it'll work" means that she'll realize she's being crazy and irrational and will actually get over his punk rear end, but hey--you don't have to tell her that part

Path, I so much agree with your opinion regarding Wiccan and the path of free will. Yes, casting a spell to draw love is a good one; anyone wants love all around them in a perfect world, however, we all can't achieve that. You know, there is an old saying, I don't know the exact words, but it goes 'be careful what you wish for, you may not want it when y ou get it' .

Misinformed didn't like my answer the first time, it still stands. Any Wiccan who asks for money to cast a black spell is not a true Wiccan.

HA HA Syn you're a riot - thanks!

Tickle - not that I didn't like your answer, but I kind of thought you were taking it personal than getting mad at me - and so I had to write out the whole story - if I offended you - I apologize, again I'm merely trying to help my friend avoid some huge mistakes, wouldn't you ? - I mean she's heartbroken (to the point of suicide - and not joking on that) and now people online are asking for thousands.. . And I've been forwarding her ALL the research I'm doing - and hope that she's rational enough to absorb it all

Misinformed, everything is okay, really, but you know I liked the answer about wear pink shorts to bed, circle three times and say 'whatever'. Why don't you tell her that and say you heard it on the net and it may actually work and get her out of the doldrums. It will occupy her mind for the time being thinking it will work. It is all about POSITIVE THINKING.It may actually work !

Here. Advice for free, with no strings attached other than that I can make no guarantees as to its effectiveness.

Rose quartz, emerald, moonstone, lapis lazuli, jade... get a small velvet pouch and put small pieces of each of these stones (you can usually get them at a rock store for reasonable prices, especially for small polished chips of them) into the pouch.

Have her wear it around her neck. She needs to look into a mirror every day, twice a day, and tell herself "I am a woman worthy of love. I am a woman worthy of respect. I am a woman who loves herself, so love will come to me".

Now--this is NOT a love spell. Those stones have properties associated with love, and she needs to love herself BEFORE anyone else will love her. To consider suicide for not having a specific person is obsession, not love, and it's dark and evil. To try to force someone else's free will is an evil thing, and it WILL reflect back on her. What the gems will do is help her to love herself, and will help her to attract someone who loves her --but only AFTER she loves herself. This really comes back to self-confidence and self-love, the most attractive things in the world.

And seriously--she NEEDS to see a counselor. A guy that would make you want to die isn't worth it, period. But those gems along with the TRUE belief in what she says to herself about love will help her--the mantra more than the gems. But it appears she needs SOMETHING to focus on if she's that caught up on the idea of spells "fixing" everything for her. A spell doesn't fix things--most of the time, a spell will make things worse, because it will be cast with the wrong attitude with the wrong intentions--in her case, subverting free will.

Again... this is something of a panacea. It will NOT get this guy back for her. But rather than wasting all that money on something that won't work and would be an evil thing if it DID work, maybe focusing on love, especially love for herself, she may come out of the worst of her obsession.

Thanks for the advice - will pass this along for sure.. . Again I hope she is rational.. . I talk with her just about everyday, and when I see her she doesn't look as though she sleeps or eats, zombie like - and so not sure if I what I say is getting through at all - but am trying my best to help her through - and making sure that no one else will take advantage of her - she's one of those overly kind people who everyone steps all over like a doormat.. . She's had A LOT of bad luck in relationships - no joking, ALL bad relationships from what I can remember from our childhood, think she's at the end of her rope, no pun intended.. . I suggested for her to see a counselor, but then says she had gone to one session and the dr. was more than eager to medicate her and just refuses to ever see another counselor now
