A dictionary would offer a lot of option... in the "K" section. :)

Those are both excellent examples. I would like to use the word "calibration" but, of course, that begins with a "c". Do you think that the administrative staff at a Court would notice if I spelt it "kalibration"?

It would help to answer your question the best, if you would let us know why you are asking the question. Then, possibilities for "K" words could be narrowed down some. Thanks!

A kalimba is a thumb piano. There are about thirty other names for it. The instrument originated in Africa. Please see other information on the links below.

That was awesome, Clough! Thank you so much.

My son plays the piano and I'd love to find him a kalimba making kit one day... wonderful inspiration, and greatly appreciated.

    Hey, thanks!

As you probably have already figured out, I make the kits for them. But, that would best be the subject of another thread... Maybe there could be a thread for how to make one? Perhaps someone could ask, or I could offer it in an original post. Don't know which way would be best right now...

That's a great idea, I'd be in that. I imagine you would know where it would fit best on the board, so perhaps you could start the thread, Clough? Just a suggestion.

Are you saying that you want to know how to make them?

If it is easy enough to show how, then that would great fun. I'll be away next weekend, but if you were to get it started, I'd have a go at it and let you know how I was doing. I would have to purchase a kit though, wouldn't I? Can you recommend a supplier? I see it takes about 10 hours to make, they say.

    I found this:

    Can they be painted?

They are not hard to make at all. Outside of what is in the kit itself, all that is required to make them from the kits that I make are clamps, a Phillips-head screwdriver and wood glue. If you have some woodworking skills, anyone can make them from scratch. Most of mine that I have made have been made of a lot of discarded pieces of wood that I shape according to the what is needed.

Yes, they can be painted. All of those that you saw in the images are painted.

hilaryfortnum agrees: Thank you Clough. I am going to use "kenodoxy".
Hey, thanks, hilaryfortnum! But, I am still curious as to why you asked the question in the first place, if you wouldn't mind sharing. If not, that's okay...
