I found a perfect Robin Egg, no cracks or anything.
A few days ago I was walking home from school and I saw a little robin egg on the ground. There did not appear to be any damage on the outside, but there is white stuff on the top.
There was no nest in the tree where I found the egg, so I told my mom and she told me to try and keep it warm, but she didn't know if the egg had even survived the fall or not from wherever it had come from. I have the egg in a little cup that I stuffed some cloths in and I have a stuffed animal sitting on it to replace the mother that would sit on it. It won't fit on my window sill, so I put it on the toy chest in front of the sill. I can fit it on the sill when I have my window open, but will the wind from outside cause the egg to get cold?

Should I keep the egg and try to hatch it? I have no idea what to do with a baby robin. Should I put it back outside? Is there any way I can tell if the egg is still alive or not? And if the egg is infertile, could I bury it instead of just throwing it out?

Well, I'm pretty sure it's not going to hatch.. it's gotten cold. Part of me is upset because I feel as if the bird would have had a better chance at life if I hadn't touched the egg in the first place, but part of me is also relieved that now I won't have to worry about a baby bird. Can I keep the egg,or will it start to rott?

Trust me if yo hadn't have touched the egg it was doomed anyway, I don't know where yo come from or how hot it is their but the egg would have needed to be kept at a steady 37.7 degree Celsius temperature anyway, and it would have needed turning 5 to 9 times a day, and when the chick hatched feeding it wold have been very difficult,

The egg will start to rot if you keep it however if you boil iit, it will keep for a long time, noto recommended to eat it though lol however on saying that I don't know where yo are or what contry but it is illegal round here for anybody to keep wild bird eggs so check with your laws about how they stand ;)
The chances are the egg either fell from a nest or a bird stole it from the nest and dropped it, if the egg was very warm when yo found it the chances are it was only recently took or dropped,

Sorry coldnt have been here to answer you but really there is nothing yo could have done for such a fragile egg without the specialist equiptment that would be needed, lamps work for chicken and duck eggs occasionally but for robin eggs and other fragile sorts their would have been little or no hope of it surviving,

But at least you showed concearn over the egg,
