Eye disease Idiopathic Parafoveal Telangiectasia (RIPT)
My husband has this disease. The Dr. said there is no cure.
Is there some where, he can go for some help? All the studies are done on the East Coast, Is there any place, he can go, for help, wheather it be med. Or more invasive tests?
The Dr. said he won't go blind, but if he could get some help, it would be more positive. He is 67 yrs. Old.
Thank you . Hope you can help us.

I have the same condition and have been treated as if I had macular degeneration. Eye injections with Lucentis monthly. I have seen 2 retinal specialists, one from Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and both made the same conclusion.

I received my diagnosis of IPFT this week. I am 51 years old and have very blurry vision in my right eye (I cannot read with it). The doctor said it's also in my left eye but not so advanced. Can you tell me if the eye injections have been helpful and, if so, did it cure the problem or stop the progression? Thanks much.

My husband has this disease (31 years old) and is currently getting injections every 6 weeks. His case is severe and it was discovered too late after the left eye was already legally blinded. When originally diagnosed, the specialists had just started using the eye injections to treat this disease. He has maintained his vision in the remaining "good" eye for more 10 years but it is slowly progressing. Without the injections he would have absolutely been legally blind a decade ago. The injections typically are very effective and practically freeze the progression of the disease. It's not a cure but it is a God-send.
