Police & private calls.
Does anybody know exactly what would happen if the police were called about private calls? Because I've been getting private calls for like almost 6 months now & the only thing keeping me from calling the police is that I don't want to get that person (people) in trouble. It wouldn't end up in courts or anything? There not too horrible like cursing or threats but they're getting a lot more frequent this month.
Or does anybody have a 1800 number theyd be willing to allow me to use for a while :].

You can call the phone company and tell them you need your number changed because you are getting harassing calls and they should change your number one time for free for harassing calls. You'd have to be careful they never get your new number.

If someone is harassing you it is a crime, and yes if the police investigate most likely it can go to trial and yes you may have to go testify.
If it is not bad enough for you to want someone to get into trouble, it is not bad enough to call the police over

Maybe put a recording on your voicemail
All calls are subject to being recorded for further investigation be careful what you say.
No blocked calls will be answered.
Or something that will make them concerned that they need to stop

Unless the someone is a collection agency. Just saying. Something seems fishy here, if a new number didn't stop the calls.

If that's the case, a backbone should be grown and the "friends" chatted with - "Don't call me!"

*sigh* thank you guys.. & I do have a pretty good feeling who it is but I don't have any proof & its not really worth going through all that trouble if it could end up in the courts.

I think you should just ignore it. Eventually the people will see that what a stupid childish thing they are doing doesn't affect you. When they call just don't answer. Just ignore them they will go away, its sort of like an ex boyfreind. LOL

If you don't have Caller ID, there is usually a * number sequence you can dial (*69 maybe), to do a call trace for a fee. Call telephone company and get number blocked. The phone company will also trace unpublished numbers.

Buy a dog whistle.
When you answer, and no one speaks, BLAST the dog whistle into the phone.
Hey, it may not stop them, but boy would I feel better after a couple of those!

If you must use the Horn, first speak softly to get their ear close to the phone, then express yourself. I hope its not considered harassment?
