I'm scared my new puppy is sick!
Hi! I am new comepleteyly to the dog business. We have never had one. A week ago we got two new puppies from someone in the iwanna paper. Husky german shepherd mix. One male and one female. They area a few days over 7 wks old now. I took them to the vet last friday am for their first round of vaccines and wormer. The vet said they were overall healthy as she could tell. The male wighed 3.5 lbs and the female 3.75lbs. Roscoe and rosebud are their names. They are to be outside dogs but since they have just been taken from their mother and it has been really cold where we live we have been keeping them in a kennel inside at night and letting them outside while it is warm during the day. I let them out a little while ago to potty and rosebud felt burning up hot to the touch. I don't know what temp dogs are supposed to be but she just felt really hot. Roscoe felt much cooler than she. She immediately went out to pee and them began to drink some water then just laid down at teh door. He played around a little and then pottied that's when i noticed the slimy mucousy film in his poo. And the poo was very very soft. Rosebud finally pooed and it was more solid but had the same in it. They have been eating and playful. I don't know that anything is wrong but it worries me. I have a 4 yr and 2 yr old who have been very afraid of dogs and fell in love with these two and are very very attached and unafraid. I jus t don't want anything to happen to them. Could someone help me please?

First of all I hope you are gong to look into having the female spayed as you don't want puppies especially between siblings.

Don't forget these are only babies at 7 weeks and if you had them checked out at the vet I am sure you have nothing to worry about. As for the female feeling very warm, I don't think that is unusual, female would have higher metabolism and as you say it was day time and probably sunny, could be she was exploring and getting over heated. As for the poo, well, they are very young, like babies as I said, so their digestive systems are adjusting probably to the different food, they just had their vaccinations and dewormed, could make a difference. If you are worried, call the vet.

Yes I am going to have them both fixed. No I do not want sibling litters... yuk. Thanks for the info though I think all will be OK. I will watch them a little and see if anything changes and call the vet. As for Rosebud being very warm, it was 3 am and she was in the kitchen so it was neither day time or warm. That's why it concerned me.

I would get her to the vet. She could take a turn for the worse over theweekend when it is hard and expensive to find a vet.
