    Violation probation in Ohio
Hi my friend got an OVI in Ohio back in December. Stupidly, she broke her probation terms- what will happen? Should she get an attorney ASAP? She got a public intox in a nerby city-will her probation officer find out? Should she just come clean? She's made some poor choices, but is a good kid who's never been in trouble before this, and does NOT have a drinking problem. She's afraid they will put an ankle monitor on her, which will result in her possibly getting fired. She's willing to do ANYTHING to avoid this, including regular daily/weekly testing, etc. Should she talk to her probation officer about it, or get an attorney...

Her PO will find out soon enough. She needs to tell them about any police contact during the month when she does her monthly reporting. She cannot hide this from them. She can retain an attorney to help her with the probation violation hearing that she will have to attend as she technically violated herself by getting arrested for drinking. It will be up to her original judge what he wishes to do with her sentence wise at the hearing. I doubt if they will put an ankle monitor on her. That is not a big deal either. Your friend can push it up her calf and just wear long pants to work. Lots of people wear them. The only thing she will have to be careful about is NOT leaving her home unless she is supposed to leave to go to work at designated times. She can't just stroll over to a friend's house down the street or dilly dally on her way home from work. She will literally have to be at her home and inside until the monitor is taken off or else she will violate herself. House arrest is not as awful as you think it is. It just means that she can't go out and party.

She wants to go talk with her PO, not telling her PO is the worst thing she can do. Also what is she on Probation for, if it had to do with drinking, then yes this will be worst. But she needs to go and talk with PO, and then if the PO wants to violate her, she then gets an attorney.
