    Emotional rollarcoaster
 I have been put on a shot called lupron to send me through premature menopause. It has all the main side effects. I have been having hot flashes, night sweats and headaches, those I can handle. But lately I am on an emotional rollarcoaster. I can feel every emotion in about 2 min, literally. I am pissed than cry then depressed, than breakdown all because my meatloaf didn't turn out right. I have been sent home from my job and fought with 3 people in a matter of a few hours. They say that one side effect is emotional. I called my doc but he was out and I don't know if I will get anything for this, I don't want to be put on a long term med that takes months to get in my system cause its not like this all the time, just about half. Someone suggested that I ask for a nerve pill but I don't know anything about any of them and don't take anything and am afraid to ask for something specific cause Im not a pill head and don't want to come across as one. I'll even let him drug test me. What should I ask for or how should I go about it. Is there anything to even help me?

My boyfriend is a doctor, and he says for the most part you have just deal with it the best you can. He say "they can take prozac or zoloft or some similar," but really you just have to deal with it.

Sorry, I hope someone comes up with a better answer...

I've been medically retired for some time and am not really up on much new treatment, but I do know that if you feel that this is not the appropriate medication for you, you have the right to another opinion.

Depending on your diagnosis you should be able to find something along with your doctor that does not change your entire personality and lifestyle.

Try this site, and also check out the forum that is mentioned there, and see if there is an alternative for you mentioned.

There could also be herbal alternatives for you, so check on that possibility, again, depending on your diagnosis and prognosis.

Your body is the only one you have, and you need to seriously take care of it or it cannot take care of you.

Good luck dear, and keep us posted.

Taking 'nerve pills' for a little while during this treatment does not mean that you'll get hooked. Sometimes they help in the uncomfortable times to aid in getting better.

You can ask for estrogen and progestrone pills.
If you're taking lupron for endometriosis, the point of the lupron is to stop hormone activity. However, if you take very low levels of estrogen and progesterone daily, it will lessen the symptoms. I'm not sure exactly how much, because I haven't gone on the treatment yet (shot date: dec 21... aaah!) but my doc told me that the two hormone pills help lessen the symptoms
