    GFI outlet for 220 volt
Does a 220 volt outlet require a GFI outlet if it is less than 3 feet from a sink?

Why in heaven's name would you want 240 VAC so close to a sink?

Yes, put a 20 VAC GFIC outlet if you can, if you physically do not have the room, then install a 240 GFCI breaker.

Also, I'm going to ask to have this item mover to Electrical and Lighting queue.

We've switched to a central air conditioning system and no longer need the 240 volt outlet by the dining room window. The house was built in 1928, updated in 1957, and again a couple of ad hoc times thereafter. The wiring is at times very old, brand new or somewhat old. My guess is that the 240...
