:( My name is Lori and I have a credit card company that has turned over my debt to a collection/ law firm agency. I owed $1500.00 and I have not been able to pay them. However, I did contact the collection agency and they agreed that if I sent $30.00 a month it would prevent it from going to court. I've made 2 payments since the middle of Jan. I've not yet sent out a payment for March, and I've received a letter that I now have to appear in court on the 3'd of April. I'm not employed, and I'm worried that I can go to jail? Can anyone please give me some advice on what to expect or could or will happen.. This is in the state of Georgia..

I can't not see you going to jail over $1500.00 If you explain yourself in court to the judge I am sure you will be fine. You kepped up to your end with the agency right? Never the less you will not be going to jail over the matter. The main part of going to court is to basically come up with an agrement on how you will pay for the $1500.00 so it will be on paper and to which you will have to follow or you could go to jail.
