    Ukraine SCAM? Or real deal?
To: anyone that can give a guy some advice??

Hi, I'm Dennis and wanted to see what you thought and if it looked like a scam.. I'm still unsure.. but I love the challenge kind of..

I met this woman on the internet from Ukraine and We have been chatting for awhile and I'm 37 and she's 25 going on 26 this month.
Both She and I want to get married and have kids soon. We talked on the phone one time, it was her friends cell phone. We had problems understanding allot, both of us could only pickup a little of what each other were trying to say. She wanted me to meet her parents. I said I would like to take a vacation to visit at the end of this month and so of us made plans for me to visit for one week. I will be leaving 29 march and coming back on 5 Apr. We both seemed to be talking well to each other until after the money word came up.
I asked her how much it would cost for a Marriage visa and all that good stuff if we could get along I will bring enough to get the paper work started. She lives in Kharkov, and she said she also needed 200 bucks for a taxi ride because she said it was along ride to Kiev and too expensive for her to pay. I told her in a earlier email that I was scammed before by someone else and lost 900 dollars and I wouldn't send the money since we never met each other. She replied saying I was Paranoid. I said no I just would rather be safe than sorry. I asked her if she could borrow money and I would pay who ever she got the money from with interest.. she got upset and called me greedy. I checked on the internet and
Saw that a cab was about 100 bucks one way from her city to Kiev.. so she was correct.. 2 way is 200 dollars and it takes about 7 hours from checking the web. So what she said in the earlier email matches up. And I accused her of being a scammer earlier on and that's when she said I was paranoid. So I thought since she wrote me back that she was not a scammer. I wrote her back apologizing that I'm sorry that I over reacted. And said I would give her 100 dollars for a 1 way trip to meet me at the airport or she can give me her address and I can take the 7hr ride alone to meet her there. That is where I left off on the email and I only have 2 weeks before we should be meeting. The last 4 or so emails she sent me have been short, with no response's to my questions and seems agitated. I think she's real but I'm at the 60% / 40% questionable still wondering.
I should get a response tomorrow but I don't mind sending less than 100 bucks for a cab ride.. but what do you suggest? Here's some things about her..
I if you need any thing else just ask. I hope its just me being paranoid lol.
I will add the email she sent me..

"Heres part of the email before the money came up,
at the end of that email.."

So, dear Dennis, I wait your next
Letter with the dates of your arrival! And about my documents for come
To you I will know tomorrow in the travel agency and I will write you
    At once!! Your Ok---

"This is where she told me the visas cost and I check the US embassy web site and it looked allot diffrent than the costs she is telling me here.
I responded with the I have been scammed before and I
Wouldn't send money but I will pay back the person that can loan you
money to get a ride to the airport."

Hello, my dear Dennis!! My beloved, Dennis... really I love you too
Very much... And I hope very much that you feelings for me are sincere
Too... It's very good news, that you can come to me 30th March! I wait
Our meeting with impatience and I want to do this your holidays
Unforgettable, that why we must to prepare everything for this your
Travel!! Firstly I want to meet you in Kiev in airport, because I
Worry about you so much!! For come to Kiev, I need to get airplane,
And I knew, that ticket cost 200$us dollars, and the taxi costs 220$us
Dollars and it's so long!! And secondly we must to rent a flat (it
Will be more comfortable, than a room in the hotel, what is more every
Day a lot of people come to Kharkov as tourists or in business trip,
And it's possible that when you come we will not able to find free
Room in Hotel). We, my family, would like to invite you to stay in our
Flat, but we live in 1 room flat, that why it's not comfortable for
You and me! You must tell me how long you want to spent with me? A
Flat for day cost from 80$us dollars (this flat stay in the outskirts
Of city, and sometimes without hot water!) to 200$ us dollars, but I
Understand that it's very expensive for us and that why I found a flat
160$ us dollars (this flat is very cozy), my dear you understand that
Without your help I will not be able arrange all it, and I would like
That for your coming all will be ready! So, what do you think about
It? Can you help me to organize our meeting? About my documents I
Found out in the travel agency that I need international passport and
visa for to go abroad, but it wasn’t news for me, but the prices were
For me really a big news, but no good!! As for visa, it costs 128$,
And about passport: if I want to have my passport in 1-2 week, I must
Pay 504$, if I want to have it 3-4 weeks it will be about 357$, and if
I can wait 2-3 months I must pay 217$, my dear you can’t imagine how
I’m sad, because really I never had travel and I never could imagine
That the prices will be so high!! I never complained on my life, but
My salary don’t allow me to pay for this documents! And I never
Couldn’t to suppose that I need your help in it, but I haven’t
    Other
Way out in this situation! Please don’t think that I need your money,
I need you and only you, and I want to see you as soon as
Possible!. you know for me it’s very difficult to ask you about
It….but tell me, pleas can you help me in this problem? My sweet
Dennis, I wait your letter with great impatience!! I want very much
That tomorrow it will be 30th March and I will see you in Kiev
    Airport! I love you... Ok---

P.S. In my previous letter I sent you my photo with my friend, and in
This photo it's my friend too! By the way your parrot is
    Wonderful!! I kiss you.

"Some info about her profile on a web site I told the site administrator that I thought she was a scammer. The web site locked her account, and I felt bad at first, but now I think I might have done the right thing but still uncertain." Soon after she replied the first time, I was shocked I thought she was not going to write me back.

There is a very good chance that this is a scam. But if you still want to give it a try then you can tell her not to meet you at the airport. You can take a cab from the airport to her city and get a hotel room on your own. Then she can come meet you there. There's no need for you to send her any money at all.

If you tell her that this is your plan then you can see how she reacts. If she's no longer interested then you'll know what it was that she really wanted.

    A. How soon after you started talking to her did she start with the LOVE stuff
Better yet how much did she actually KNOW about you before it was brought up?

    B. Did you tell her all about you and she said that is what she wants too?
OR did she tell you more about her first and it happened to be everything you want too?

    C. Most likely she is telling a number of guys the same line and doing a number on all of you.

    D. It DOES look like a scam. It looks exactly like a typical form letter the scammers use.
I agree with Lisa if you are going there why would you need to send HER money?
She will take your money and you will never hear from her again.
If you send her money kiss it (Goodbye) before you send it!

In general, first a trip to the Ukraine is a great trip, if you get there and she is not there to meet you it can still be a wonderful trip.

So you go, you travel to her city, meet her parents, and so on.
The VISA she needs will be from the US government Visa, so check with the US Embassy web site for her county, and with US Immigrations, they will have all the VISA info for you.
She will need a passport from her county, that should not be that costly.
Again you can look up her governments web site and find out her requirements for a passport.

Thanks for your advice, I was fighting myself in denial but I knew on the inside that it was a scam. Yes about 5 emails in to talking to her we started getting friendly. But I just sent an ultimatum to her and told her it would be me take a taxi to you or we end this chat session all together that Im sick of games. So be it!

Thanks for your Wise, great advice and the fast response time : )

Yes there are varoius themes to the scams, some are in other states, and their "uncle or dad" is going to send them back to some other county, and they will love you forever if you save them and help them stay in the US.

I do hate to cause all to sound like scams, but don't want to give false hopes either, I know a dozen people who meet someone online from all sorts of nations, But most did not ask for money, and were happy for you to come see them and so on.
