    The Ink Spots
    Capris
    Chantels
    The Crests
    The Cadillacs -Speedoo
The Cleftones - Heart and soul

N0help4u; great list, did a good job.

By the way, I am Pittsburgh born and bread (Now in Chicago), raised near Monroeville, Pa. I remember these groups and a lot of other singers that came from the Pgh area. Some that were not rock groups---Perry Como, Bobby Vinton, etc.

    "Youns remember?"

And I haven't heard Porky Chedwick's name in 30 years... great job!

I live on the other side of the Burgh
I went with Mad Mike Metro in the late 70's
He made Tommy James and the Shondels famous
    I live in Mooncrest
The del vikings use to live a couple streets down from me
My neighbor said Bobby Vinton always asked her to go out with him.
She said he could never get a girlfriend
I guess that ended up making him famous though ---Mr. Lonely, etc...
    He was from Cannonsburg
I think that is where Perry como was from too.
There are a lot of famous people from this area

Lou Christy lived a few miles from me in Glenwillard
    Marcels were from North Side
I think the Sky liners were from all over Pgh.

    Shirley Jones
    Tom Nix
    James Steward
    More east of Pittsburgh

Let's not forget that a lot of the Super Star Sports figures that are from the area. I may be wrong but I believe that Dan Marino was from the area also, if not, well he went to the University Of Pittsburgh. It is late at the moment, and I can't think straight, but I know that there were many others also... love it.

Tough being a Steelers fan and a Bears fan, conflicts at times.

    Vinton; "Polish Prince."

No, Myron died... I grew up listening to him announce the Steelers games, created the "Terrible Towel."

He was a little unusual and had a strange raspy voice, but fit the mold perfectly for the Pittsburgh fans.

NOhelp4U, I found a link that list all famous people from the Pittsburgh area... interesting how many there are from the past and currently. Some examples; Dean Martin, Charles Bronson, Gene Kelly, David O. Selzneck, The Vogues, Sharon Stone, Jeff Goldblum, Andy Warhol, Ken Griffey Jr & Sr, Mike Dika, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Ron Paul, Arnold Palmer, Demi Moore, Dennis Miller,. the list goes on...

Here is the link; List of people from the Pittsburgh metropolitan area - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stringer (sorry, this is a little off the subject, but there are 1950's singers on this list.)
