Consequences of fake marriage?
Here's the situation:
27-year-old Hispanic male has been dating his 26-year-old girlfriend since February 2007 and living with her and her 2 kids since August 2007. However, he just filed for divorce in early October 2007. He told his girlfriend that his wife left him, but he and his wife filed jointly. His wife is also 15 years his senior, which makes me think it wasn't a "separation-turned-to-divorce" issue. His girlfriend is also pregnant as of late October 2007.
My gut feeling is that this guy married someone who was a citizen so that he could get his papers, they're getting divorced because he finally got them and he knocked up his girlfriend as insurance. What are the legal consequences if a) this actually happened and b) someone finds out about it? He's already got a record that includes 2 hit and runs, obstructing an officer and 4 DUI convictions(those don't include the ones they dismissed).

Finding out, thinking and proving is two separate issues.
Byut my issue with this, is one 1. you are living with someone you know is married. 2. and you are willing to marry someone you believe has cheated the system. And seem to be more worried what happens if he is caught than what sort of trust and relastionship the two of you can have.
First I doubt there is any proof, she will say he loved her, she will say she loved him now hates him, Most divorces are done by mutal (joint) and with divorce in the US at over 50 percent, a divorce means nothing beside they could not make it work.
But with those arrests it is obvoius this is a waste of citizenship but what could happen, deported and citizenship taken away, what will happen most likely nothing unless there is proof that will stand up in court

Probably should have specified that this isn't me I'm talking about; I have a logical mind (most of the time *lol*). This is someone that I know who refuses to accept that she's putting herself and her kids in a bad situation. I was just curious as to what might happen so that she can be informed.

Have you posted this before and said it was you? Parts of this sound very familiar - the 2 kids, the kids in a bad situation, all of that.

I have posted bits and pieces of it, which is why it seems familiar. I haven't posted about this particular situation. I'm asking now because I've learned quite a bit more about the situation since the first time I mentioned it.

Does the hyphen indicate that there was more you wanted to say but chose not to? :)
I'm just looking for an idea of what she's getting herself into, as well as the kids.

My husband left me a few months ago and we are now in the midst of a divorce. It was his choice because he has a girlfriend. I have a way of proving in court that my husband smoked marijuana when we were married.
Does anyone know what could happen to him if I can prove this in court?
Thanks!
