Fr Chuck - Absolve us from the sin of thread jacking, I feel guilt.

Fallen, fear not, we aren't the only ones. Although, I must admit, I'm usually the one leading them astray.

I've got to learn to shut my trap. No comments.

Run away, as fast as you can. Now I've got you addicted, or did you get me addicted? I'm not sure anymore. I'm tired and going to bed. Talk to you tomorrow, I hope.

excon, thank you. I wish I had seen this before I went to bed, I couldn't sleep because of the sins I've committed on this site (thread jacking), now I can rest in peace.

Well, of to see if I can do some more damage.:D

There are two types of threads here, questions and discussions. Generally a question is on a narrow issue and usually has a limited number of responses. Sometimes a question is broader and becomes a discussion and goes on for pages. Such threads often go off on a tangent and this is known as hijacking a thread (thread jacking?? ). Sometimes its, sometimes the OP joins in, sometimes the OP opened the thread as a discussion and doesn't care what direction it takes.

But usually thread jacking doesn't work well and if a thread does go off on a tangent, a new thread should be started.

I honestly don't mean to do it, and I have to say, it isn't always me. Sometimes I am lead astray but I really do try to stick to the topic, especially if it's a serious one.

It's just really hard not to say hi to a bud when they are on the same thread as you. Maybe we should try personal messages. PSSST meet me on my thread so we can chat.

No one means to do it and its not a crime. But, depending on the nature of the original question, it may interfere with the OP getting an answer.
