As a child I saw this movie and all I remember are a few scenes. In one of them, there was an adult male with I think 2 children. They were on a savana of some sort. They fell asleep on the branches of a huge tree, and when they woke up the land was completely flooded. On a floating log there was a big cat ( a leopard or jaguar) that had managed to survive the flood. It approached this gigantic tree and proceeded toward the adult and the kids... ( they did escape). Another scene I believe still from this movie invovled the same group in a hot air baloon and they arrived on top of a mountain from within a canyon. The top was flat and there were a number of indigens...

That's all I can remember. I was in Italy at that time (born and raised) so, even if I remembered the title, it had probably been translated to something else, not necessarily an identical translation.

Anyone who can help would be answering this riddle of mine that I have been asking myself for a very long time.

I sure would love to own this movie...
