I do apologize that no one has yet responded to your question. By re-varnish, do you mean to simply refinish it in an antique white composed of some kind of finishing material such as paint, lacquer, varnish or polyurethane?

    Antique Finish
Hi Dougl: This is 48Mona and to answer your question about antiquing white my bedroom set. Yes I would like to refinish it in antique white but how would I do that with either paint varnish or whatever product you recommend to get the job done.

I have already stripped it with furniture stripper but need help on how to do the rest. Hope this is more helpful in your final verdict. Thank you so much for getting back to me. Will be waiting for your reply.. Have a nice day

Do you have an idea of a kind of antique white look that you want? There are a number of different ways of antiquing if you are going to be using paint. Could you maybe post an image here of the kind of look that you want?

I saw it done on TV.quite a few years back but I think it was done with an oil because it was applied with a cloth and if I remember right it had like smears of bronze on the white paint to give it that antique look. I wish I could be more helpful. Went to different websites but did not find anything that resembles what I want. But at this point if your not sure yourself of the look I want even a nice white painted finisf would be nice. If you could just tell me what kind of paint so that it does not yellow on me that would be great.

I recently used an antiquing kit from Rustoleum's American Accents collection and the look is awful. The base coat is ivory and the stain top coat is a brown color. It doesn't look antiqued to me, it just resembles an off white color that someone threw muddy water on. After reading online...
