    Unknown odor in bedrooms
I had a house built in summer of 2001. During the Spring of 2006, I noticed a strong "gas/chemical" odor in a bedroom. So strong I had to keep the door shut. This smell also appeared in another bedroom. The bedrooms are separated by a bathroom but the "gas/chemical" smell is not in the bathroom, only the bedrooms. And the smell only appears when the weather is 65 or warmer. Once I put the air condition or house vent on, the smell disappears. Also, the smell sometimes comes on stronger if the bedroom windows are open. But again, if the fan or air is on, the smell disappears.

There is no evidence of mold or leaks. Where is the source?

The following people were here and negative findings:
    Plumbing, heating, and air conditioning
    Township house inspectors
    Gas company
    Carpet installers
No evidence of leaks or mold

Am I breathing something hazardous and where could the smell be coming from?

Just thinking out loud now... but wondering if maybe it is time to bring in the MOLD investigators. They have tools and knowledge that may help here.

I mean, what a list of people... and knowone found anything? Did carpet installers take carpet and pull it up anywhere..

How about calling an exterminator.. Wondering if an animal/animals died somewhere inside the walls..

Anyway, all I could think of after seeing the list of individuals you listed. Like I said... may need to pull some things up... may need to open a wall... there is an answer.

Hope this helped in some way. Good luck.

Thanks for your response. We contacted a mold specialist and they are coming over Monday. We opened small holes in walls around the windows and pulled back the carpet around the edge... no evidence of old or new water spots. We pulled the siding off around the windows again no evidence of leaks.

I just turned up the heat in the house. The bedrooms with the windows closed was 75 degrees... no smell. I opened the windows slightly and kept the heat on... there is a slight smell of it. For some reason, when I open the windows the smell happens a little bit quicker.
