If someone has a bench warrant out on them because of failure to appear in court, what can be done to get the bench warrant lifted?. georgia. A court date was sent out to the correct address, but never received.

Only the judge who issued the warrant can make it go away or quash it. That means you need to contact the court and schedule a bench warrant add on hearing so the judge can hear your excuse for not showing up in court (or not taking the initiative to determine your court date when you knew one was coming).

In the meantime you have three options.. 1. turn yourself in and sit in jail until the hearing 2. post the bail amount that is attached to the warrant 3. Don't get caught until the hearing..

Depending on what the charge was in the first place you could follow the advice of Carly above. If the original charge was something in the felony class, I'd suggest retaining a good attorney.
