Programmes for adults who can't spell
I just discovered to my horror the man I've been married to for 2 1/2 years can't spell for nuts. It's embarrassing.I'm just wondering if anyone knows any programmes or methods for adults to learn spelling.

    Thank you in advance.

I would start with some basic phonic programs, find out what level he can or can't read to, and use some basic books available at many school

First of all you spelled thrash in your name, I believe you intended to spell trash.

Second maybe your husband has a learning disability... yes he can have it only in the area of spelling.

Third who are you to be ashamed of him, I think if this is the only thing that you find horrific about him... you might need to take a step back and look at yourself.

My husband can't spell for "nuts" either. But he can paint, put just about anything together, weld (military aircraft parts) work on cars, build things, play baseball with his kids, take his daughter fishing and swimming etc... just because a person is limited in one area does not mean you have to be ashamed of them. Your post both angers and saddens me.

I am some what the same way. My spelling is the craps. But I found that it has improved allot more when I start writing with word perfect on my computer. I would type a few paragraphs and then us spell check. From what needs to be corrected I try to spell it out more often. It will improve in due time as long as he works on it. I will add that my grammar is the same way. But like I said it will improve over time. I hope it will work for him as well.

One thing that turns me off is when someone can't spell. It actually affects my judgment of whether I would be attracted to them. I know guys who are very smart but can't spell though so that doesn't mean they're idiots.
I can see how that could be embarrassing.
But I can't believe it took you this long to figure out he can't spell. Where have you been all this time?
