Lump on top of penis shaft
    Hey,

I know there are a lot of posts about similar topics and they were all suggested to see a doctor. But I sort of have a similar issue here but different from what everyone has been saying. And I would really like some possible answers before I go see the doctor.

For about maybe half to 1 year ago, I started growing a small lump(1mm) on the topside of my penis, right in the middle between the tip and the base. For the past half a year, it's been growing very very slowly but I do notice a difference. When I squeeze it it feels like it's a small hard little ball just inside my skin. Recently, it kind of surfaced the skin and has a small tip to it, if I squeeze it, just a little bit of white stuff comes out. And maybe it's because I rub on it and check it too much but it turns kind of red. It is pretty apparent now rather than before, but its still not big in size.

It is located closer to the base of my penis so when I flip my foreskin down its not far enough to see it, also it is about 0.5 cm above where my hair line ends.

I'm a non-circumsized 19-year-old and I'm not sexually active. If anyone could please give me some ideas or answers I would really appreciate it.

I try not to do car repairs over the phone either, but here goes with your problem. What you have could possibly be some kind of pre-cancerous problem. If you keep fooling around with it and waiting to see a dr and find out just what it really is, you are going to end up losing in the long run.

Please go to your dr and have it looked at. Having lasted as long as you say it has tells me that it's progressed to the point where you will probably have to have it surgically removed as it keeps growing. Hopefully I am wrong on this, but I don't think so, sorry.

Have your doctor take a look. I really wouldn't accept any other advice from the board than that. But get to your Dr. sooner rather than later.

First, I'm sure you are scared, but don't get yourself totally worked up (I know easier said than done). Depending on insurance (not sure where you are) but you may need to start at your Family (General Practioner) doctor and go from there. Your first step is going to see the doctor.

This thing could be a cyst, some kind of infection, etc. Just because you've had it and it's grown for awhile doesn't make it pre-cancerous.

Thanks for the advice and thanks for trying to calm me down. I just don't know where to take my first step. My parents are out of the country I kind of want to get to checked up before I tell them about it. I'm in university and my family doctor is about 3 hours away, I probably could go there on the weekend.but I don't know who to contact first, any suggestions

Not sure where you're at, by you saying University I'm assuming either Canada or England. I would assume that there is a clinic/doctor somewhere on campus that you can go to. Again, not sure how the health care system works, but you may need to let your folks know, in case of insurance, etc. Good luck!

I just called the toronto sex info hotline thing and the assistant told me she won't be able to tell me what it is but people usually develop bumps on their penis for no reason and it goes away for no reason, but I got to consult with a doctor anyway, hope that's the case.

You could try going to a dermatologist. Please don't be upset over this. You are going to see what it is. That's good that you are not going to ignore it. What really bothered me was the fact you said it kept getting red. Good luck!

I believe I have the solution for you.

I experienced something similar. There are 2 possibilities :

    a) It's a non harmful CYST - Hard, ball-like in nature, and appears to be able to move around under the skin. Cause is uncertain, but probably due to skin damage when masturbating.

    b) It's MOLUSCUM - Red in colour usually, multiple bumps, with a crater-like dented surface at the top. This is a sexually transmitted disease.

What to do if it's a CYST
    *****************************
If its CYST (which is what I had and the cyst did not go away even after 3 to 5 months), just go to a skin specialist and have him remove the ball-like bump using a "Punch Extractor". The skin specialist will first inject an aenesthetic into the bump and extract the ball-like lump using a device called a "Punch Extractor" (sounds painful, but you won't feel a thing because of the aenesthetic). This "Punch Extractor" is shaped like a pen and easily extracts the ball-like bump within a minute. Once the cyst is removed, the doctor will stitch up the skin. Quite painless and fast (it took only 10 minutes to finish the whole procedure). After that, you'll be as good as new.

Afterward, I took a long look at the extracted Cyst. It was hard, light-yellow in colour and could not even be squeezed flat. It also looked like a little seed. It was only then did I realiz there was no other way to get it removed, except to extract it at a skin specialist.

What to do if it's MOLUSCUM
    ***********************************
If it's MOLUSCUM, go to any doctor and ask him to spray liquid nitrogen on it. This will take a few sessions. Frequency is estimated to be 1 spray session per week.
