    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

    You have to go to court and file for joint custody. As part of the petition you request that you be listed on the because. You will need to submit a paternity test to prove you are the father.

    I disagree that he has to file for joint custody.

    He can file for joint custody if he wants, but he doesn't have to do that just to have his name added to the birth certificate.

    He can request a paternity test, and upon the results get added to the birth certificate... then go from there as far as any visitation or custody he may want.
