I have a crushed disk my doctor said that there is not much they can do except give me pain medication but I don't like to take persciption so I avoid dowing so if anyone has any ideas on how to relive the pain naturally it would be very helpful

This may or may not be to your liking but I would suggest seeing a GOOD chiropractor. I do not have anything as severe as you but this year my back was getting steadily worse. During the fall I often could not sleep through the night as I would tweak something wrong and then wrythe in pain. I decided to go alternative. My wife researched and found a Chiropractor that was also an MD. It was a breath of fresh air. After a month I started feeling better. Its been 3 months now and I may have a twinge in my back once a week but it goes away quickly. No more having my wife carry me (drag me) to the bathroom. I have to admit we are very lucky to have found him. He offers a family plan so for $250.00 a month your entire family can be seen as often as you want. He recommends 3 times a week at a minimum. So my wife and I and our 4 year old daughter go. My wife had been suffering from on again off again vertigo. It was REAL bad for a month and then just when she got into a specific position. She no longer has it after getting chiropractic treatment. It may seem like mumbo jumbo but it really makes sense. If your spine is not too far gone I truly believe you can be helped. Most will give you a free exam and take x-rays. If you live in Maryland near DC or Baltimore I will glady introduce you to him. Most inusrance companies will cover some visits but mine only would cover 20 and the copay was $30.00. So the doctors family plan blew the insurance away.

Please consider this BEFORE you have surgery or take strong medication.

Yes, always check with a chiropractor prior to having surgary done.

They can not do everything, but with back issues, it can be the difference between day and night.

My wife has 3 discs in her spine, that are deteriorating. She takes Neurontin, sometimes Darvocet (but not often on the Darvocet) for pain. She doesn't like medications either, but after weighing all the choices, has no other alternative.
You do have some options:
1. Get a referral to a Spine Specialists; (if not already seeing one), get another opinion on the surgery. Or, get a second opinion. Surgery has come a long way.
2. Decide whether you want to live in pain, or; take the medications your doctor prescribes.
I do hope you have gotten a second opinion from another doctor. I do wish you the best, and good luck.
