    Was Satan the first freethinker?
He makes the Adams and Eves ashamed of their bestial ignorance and obedience; he emancipates them, stamps upon their mind the seal of liberty and humanity, in urging them to disobey and eat of the fruit of knowledge. Offers them freedom from the most jealous, the most vain, the most ferocious, the most unjust, the most bloodthirsty, the most despotic, God in all of history.

yes, satan taught man the openness of sin and the ability to revolt against all that is good.

It is satan that is of course the one who is unjust, blood thirsy and jealous, of all the good that God offers.

Freethought - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NO. Can freethinkers logically and scientifically prove the existence of Satan/Devil.

If not the question is moot.

    Satan/Devil/Evil is theologic.

Even if you could somehow "prove" the existence of Satan, was it not the "emotion" of pride that caused the fall and rebellion against God?

Shame came after the fall and the effects of sin.

If you do not believe in the God of the Bible,

"Offers them freedom from the most jealous, the most vain, the most ferocious, the most unjust, the most bloodthirsty, the most despotic, God in all of history"

    This is also moot.

One only has to look at the history of mankind to see jealousy, vanity, injustice, despotism, bloodlust, and other wonderful traits.

how can one even prove thought, can you even prove you are real, not merely the dream of someone else.

And if we are, can our thoughts ever be free since man is influenced by social and economic factors and often people considering thierself "free thinking" are merely following or reinforcing the values they wish to adopt to start with, and their thinking only draws them to the conclusion they were looking for to start with.

These are of course philosophical questions that have been pondered since the ancient time of Greek history; Epistemology deals with the question about knowledge.

Protagoras said…"Man is the measure of all things."
Descartes said: "cogito ergo sum- I think, therefore I am.” Descartes also asked: Can we know reality from a dream?

Hume came along and said: all knowledge is based on habit, not logic or necessity.

So the issue is not about proving knowledge exist, or what is knowledge, but rather interpreting Biblical scripture. Adam, Eve, and Satan certainly exist there, as well as the History of the Jewish people.

Yes, Satan promised freedom, and the first son born became a murderer. Satan makes a lousy leader. Haiti was devoted to the devil, go see what it is like to live there. "This prison called "freedom" is makin' you ugly and old!" (Gary S. Paxton)
