    Am I infertile?
I was diagnosed with having PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) about 6 months ago. I've since then taken medication and cured it. Now my boyfriend and I have been trying to have a child together and so far we haven't had any luck. I did some research and read that PID can affect fertility and prevent a women from getting pregnant. Since I haven't conceived yet Im starting to worry about if my PID is affecting me from conceiving. The doctor told me my PID was in the beginning stages. Has anyone gone through this or have any advice.

PID can most certainly affect your chances of conceiving because it tends to leave scar tissue in your fallopian tubes.

However, you have not really been trying to conceive for very long. It takes many healthy women up to a year or more of actively trying to become pregnant.

Are you taking folic acid? If not you should be. Folic acid should be taken by all women of child bearing years. It reduces the risk of neural tube defects, among other things, and these defects are present in early pregnancy, many times before the woman even knows she is pregnant, and these defects are permanent and irreversible.

Yes, I been taking vitamins for about a month. My best friend just found out she pregnant by her boyfriend and that hasn't been together nearly as long as my boyfriend and I so I'm very upset and jealous about that. That's why I been nervous about if I can conceive or not

First of all, look at it this way hun. You are jealous of a couple that has conceived and they haven't been together very long right? Do you think they will be together forever? The chances of them staying together forever and raising this child as a two-parent household are slim. Most likely she will be raising the baby alone and fighting for child support, and eventually coming to a place like this wanting to know how to make him give up his rights.

Is that what you want for your baby? Nah, I didn't think so.

Babies are forever. Whenever you have one you are connected to the baby's father for the rest of your life. It's best to be sure you are in a committed relationship with a man you know you want to be with for the rest of your life, rather than just having a baby because you love babies.

Now, I don't mean that to sound as though you think that way, I don't know you.

So, don't be jealous, be thankful that you are not in her shoes. She is going to need a lot of help and support when and if they do break up.
