    Cleaning/replacing carrier bimetal auto pilot
I have a carrier weathermaker sx probably 20+ years old. I am currently having problems w/ the pilot not lighting (bi-metal auto pilot so I hear) I noticed another forum mentioned it may need cleaning. I have fuel, and juice, the thermostat is sending a signal for heat, the blower kicks on but no fire or spark. Any help is appreciatec especially since it is 15 F.

The bimetal auto pilot section/switch is probably defective. I have never cleaned them as a cure for the switch malfunction. I have only cleaned the pilot orifice in the control. Many times these old controls were glow coil in design and just wear out from age. Replacement of this part will probably solve your problem. Watch the wiring if the new one does not have a plug on the end and you have to hard wire it.
