Why am I not showing yet? And is my baby OK?
I am 15 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am not showing like I would hoped? Is there any explination as to why I am not showing? I am also worried that my baby may be in danger because of me not showing like I should be? Can anyone ease my mind?

    Thanks,
    Mandy

Sweetie, this is all very normal. Especially if it is your first child. Many women do not show with their first until around the 20 week mark.

You may not even be feeling movement yet either, and this is normal too. First movements by first time Mommies are not usually felt until around the 16th to 18th week of pregnancy.

There are so many reasons for this. I can tell you that (esp if this is your first baby) some women, like myself, don't even start showing until they are 6 months pregnant. Some women will always show more prominently then others. You have to keep in mind several things. The size of your baby... at this point, your baby is only 4 inches long, crown to rump, and about 1/2 ounces. That's roughly the size of an apple. Also, some women have a tilted uterus, which can cause the baby to lie farther back into your tummy, rather then poking outward more, therefore you wouldn't show as much, as early. Also, your weight gain. You should probably have gained about an average of 5 pounds by this point, give or take. Also, your physical stature(if you are very thin, you may notice growth earlier.) sometimes you just don't have a bump until you are half way through. Some women start showing right away. It differs with each woman, and each pregnancy. Also, important to remember that most of the first half of the pregnancy is developing the baby, the last half is putting weight on the baby. (particularly in the last tri) So try not to worry. So long as your doctor is pleased with your measurements and all other aspects of the pregnancy, no need to worry. Before too long, you'll be wishing you could see your feet again. ;0)
