Maths related to CADCAM machining geometry
I am machining sectors ( 120 deg) using CADCAM on a Machining Centre. The thickness is 18mm the OD is 1000mm the ID is 750mm. The tool is 12mm diameter. The most efficient (on screen) method of utilising nesting and minimum tool operations is to make a snake of three sectors - spaced by the tool width.

The tool path sees the snake (3 sectors) as one continuous perimeter and then does two separate cuts to split the three.

The question is…. If the tool wear is 1mm - how does this affect the diameter and what is the relationship % wise 1mm - (on three splits ) to 1000mm diameter.

I can send jpg or CAD drawings to explain visually

    Hope you can help
