Testing a central air conditioner compressor
Is there a way that a compressor for a central air conditioner can be tested to see if it is going out?

There are several ways checking amp draw, isolating the compressor to check the valves to see if they hold to name a few.

Many times a good set of gauges will give readings that can determine the pumping ability of a compressor if all other things in the system are operating normally. I also agree with hixton on those ideas.
