    Algebra II, substitutuion
    Could you help me with this eqatution all the way through because I keep getting the wrong answer the answer is suppose to be (-3,1/2)

    the equation is

    4x+6y=-9
    2x-10y=-1


    please help :D

    Concentrate first on a single one of the two equations.
    Isolate one of the variables in that equation.
    Substitute that number in where the same variable appears in the second equation.

    For your first question, it's actually a lot easier if you combine the equations so as to eliminate one of the variables, then solve for the other. For your second question, plug in 5 for x and see if y turns out to be 11 when you do.
