    Problem Reading CD\ DVD drives
    HELP!
I have a problem, it maybe a Nero premium 7 related problem, but when I uninstall it it doesn't fix it.
I have a cd drive, a dvd drive, and two virtual cd drives set up on my computer, but yesterday my computer would not recognise them. I checked for answers already, most said hard ware problems, but since a virtual drive is as physical as this text document I have a problem with their diagnosis. I have uninstalled the drives, and re-installed them (no change), I've changed the cable from my drives to the motherboardy thing (no change), I've searched for updated drivers, but alas nothing. What should I do without buying new drives, as it can't be a physical thing as surely my virtual drives would still be working.
Every time I look at the drives in system hardware the error messages change from 39 to 41, either driver problem or hardware problem (but every time I click on it it says the other error). Also in Bios, CMOS, NetBios, what ever you want to call it my computer recognises the drives, its just windows doesn't. Also in my Nero computer-see what you got- wizard it says you have these two physical drives, and these two virtual drives. Why does Nero pick this up here but still won't let me burn to them saying that they're not there (even though their scan of my computer says that they are there), and why doesn't windows recognise it?
I have XP with all the service packs they've done.

    Drives
    Hi,
I am not sure if this will help, but here is a link:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero_Ping.html

This link offers a download from Nero which will list all your devises and workings, (called NeroPing) which might give you some clue as to the issue. It looks like you have covered all the bases so far, but maybe this download could help lead you to a solution.

    Solved!
Cheers for the help (and I hope I help others), but I managed to get it fixed by myself, and in doing so I have re-affirmed my love for the internet. I love YOU internet.
If any one has the same problem:
The error is caused by a corruption within the registry. To "fix" it download registry fix from the lovely official site, but don't bother running it yet as it will only be a demo version. Search in google- "registry fix" "keygen"- then don't download the one for registry fix 3, but the 2.2 one as it's more user friendly (it actually works unlike the other). Insert a name and get a key, enter the key into registry fix and scan your comp. Then fix your comp and re-start, hey pesto (hmmmm dinner) windows recognises all the drives again. And it was free!

Please note I do not condone the use of illegal software, but I do love the tinterweb.

If you don't condone the illegal use of software then why do you promote it?

    Who's responsible?
    What is illegal?
Surely it is not my fault that key generators can be searched for by using Google. Isn't it more the case that Google promote the use of illegal software by making it easily accessible. I only used what was given to me by the lawful use of the tinterweb.
The information I have given can all be found on Google, that's where I got it, so I can be likened to the individual in Searle's chinese room. I maybe able to "print" what maybe understood as knowledge, but actually I have none. All I have fulfilled is a set of conditionals set by Microsoft and Google, not set by myself.

By your theory, all building merchants should be held responsible every time someone buys a brick and then uses that brick to break a window and rob a house.

Yes Google can help you find these items but they don't make your download them and they don't make you use them. Just downloading a keygen is fine - it's when you use it that you break the law. Google has nothing to do with it.

What LT said. Another example, is owning a gun. It is legal to own a gun (under certain conditions), but its illegal to use that gun to kill a person (under most conditions). The fact that mentioned that bit about illegal software shows that you had some awareness of the illegality.

That companies use license keys to make sure their software is only used by people who they gave a license to. To obtain a key without the authorization of the company means you are pirating the program.

    Blame?
I'm not to blame, I'm causally defined. When the world was created I was designed to do that action. I could not have done other wise, I am not free.
