I'm babysitting a dog and something's wrong
I'm babysitting my sisters dog, he's a Pekingese mix.
She advised me that he had a spot on his leg and has cream for it.
Tonight I noticed that he was licking it a lot, and upon closer look,
The lower part of his belly and the skin on both of his back legs (under the fur) all the way up is red, inflamed,
Warm to the touch, and appears to be oozing a clear fluid maybe..
It feels dewy sort of and it wasn't this way this morning.
Don't worry, I'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow, but I'm very bothered that he may be uncomfortable right now and would
Like to know what to do for him.
The cream is not helping.
Thanks in advance,

If you have any Benadryl in the house, give him a capsule. It should help the itching, and is one of the few things I would suggest except on advice of a vet. I can almost count them on my thumbs. Be sure and tell the vet what you did. Post back after the vet visit.

I'm so thankful that you're online right now.
I gave him the benadryl wrapped in a small piece of cheese and he took it without any problems.
I'll post again after the vet tomorrow.
Thank you.

The vet seems to believe it's allergies.
He doesn't have fleas so it's something in his environment.
Probably outdoors since he's a short dog and the problem is worse on his under belly and inner back legs. He may be walking through a certain weed/s
Or grass that he's allergic to.
Obviously, my sister has a little something in her yard that effected his one foot and I have an abundance of something in my yard that is affecting him now.
The benadryl really helped a lot.
It looked so much better this morning, so the vet didn't see what I saw last night.
I am to continue the benadryl tablets and the cream and keep him off the lawn for now to see what it looks like in 48 hours.
Thanks again

I'm doing everything I'm suppose to do and his skin is still a little pink in places.
I was going through his fur today putting cream on him and noticed that he has some black waxy dots on his under belly skin.
Any idea what this could be?

Could be something from outside, could be more allergy. Why don't you just keep an eye on it for now.

The black could just be skin color. Most dogs I've had have had black splotches on their skin it is just black instead of pink.
His skin could have been inflamed more because of him scratching it and irritating it.
It most likely is something he is allergic to in the yard.

Labman, I will keep an eye on it.
They told me to give it 48 hours anyway.
I feel so paranoid because the dog is in my care and this is happening.
I called the vet today and they don't know what to make of the spots, but told me to soak him in an Epsom salt bath for the sores.
NOhelp4u, I thought it was just natural spots too from just looking at it, but while I was putting cream on him, the spots were coming off on my hands.
His skin was definitely inflamed more when he was licking and chewing it, thankfully, after the Benadryl, he hasn't been doing that anymore.

Update
My sisters dog is doing very well. No more signs of allergy.
He has no fur where the sores developed, but the scabs have just healed, so hopefully the fur will grow back now.
I'm continuing to give the oral Benadryl everyday so it doesn't happen again.
She will be picking him up on Saturday and I'll
Be able to hand over a happy healthy pup.

Ah, a report that things are going well. We could use a lot more of them here in all the forums.
