    Windows update
Hello experts, I'm not sure but I think I may have a problem. I ran the windows update and got the security update 823559 and a day or so later I received the same message that this update was needed again. I looked in my installed updates and noticed I have a total of 19 security updates with this same number (823559). They were all successfully downloaded and installed according to my installed updates. Every time I run the windows download for updates it tells me I need this same security update again. Is there suppose to be this many with the same number? Can someone help me with this please? I'm running windows 98se.

    Hi kat555lady,

First, did you install the update by clicking on the file? If not, do so. Sometimes when it's supposed to "autoinstall", it doesn't

Second, go to the Control Panel and click on Add\Remove Programs. See if the Windows Update (Hot Fix) you mention is in there. How many instances are there? One, no problem. More than one? Uninstall all of them and redownload the update.

Third, go to the Microsoft support forums and ask one of the MPV's there.

    jpChris,

I had to go to the windows update site and use the catalog to get the update by saving it and installing it myself. So your advice was very helpful. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

Since installing XP Service Pack 2, the few updates that have occurred subsequently have all failed to install after downloading. Downloading seems to reach 95% completion normally and then slows right down. 'failed' then appears against the update name.
