My problem reappeared last September - bad smell from the nose. By pure chance I got my hands on some Augmentin tablets and tried them. Bingo! Job done! After years of suffering with blocked and infected sinuses and smell of **** coming from my nose, it's all gone! Get Augmentin - I don't think any other antibiotic works. Apparently the bacteria which causes this problem has a protective coating which ordinary antibiotics can't penetrate. Augmentin contains some sort of acid which breaks this coating so the antibiotic can get in and zap the bacteria. It worked for me anyway!

I am having the same problem and I thought it was just me. The smell is so bad, it stays n room and is there when I leave and come back to the room. I just bought some saline solution spray so Im hoping it will help me out. I hate because we are all suffering from this and it seems like its attacking all the social-able people. Now I am afraid to go out. Pray for me. And I hope something helps us all..

I don't have a bad breath. What I have is a bad smell that no one will smell. I am having it since about one year now. I need a physician advice on that. I thought that it was a sinus problem, but when I checked it out in a specialized book, I found out that I was wrong. So, if you can help me out, I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you so much and God bless you!

Hi there, I read your post here. I thought I was the only one suffering this kind of condition in our country as most people who suffer with this kind of situation are from abroad. I too have isolated myself from people or friends because I'm totally embarrassed whenever people around me would cover their nose every time I talk. I've been suffering this kind of misery for over 5years now and I really had enough of it. I feel so disgusted of myself that I rather just stay away from people rather than let them find out I am such a big stinker. I have a very good hygiene, I brush my teeth like 6-7 times a day especially after I eat something to eliminate bad odors coming from my mouth. I hope you can give me the details of the specialist who treat you so I can have my check-up there. Been to many doctors and since I'm too shy to really explain my problem to them in details I haven't gotten any resolution yet, they just keep prescribing me some antibiotics which doesn't help at all. I do have tonsil stones, if you heard about it and I think that is the culprit but when I exhale through my nose it smells bad as well as people tend to cover their nostril when I do that. Did you had an endoscopy done to find out what really the problem is? I hope you can give me additional information about the specialist as it could save me from years of humiliation.. im really lost and I don't want to suffer anymore, please help.. thanks

He suggested to me that spray sodium chloride solution (dextrose water) using syringe without needle everyday. After a few months it 50% works and continuing to improve. I also suggest that regular exercise ei. Jugging or swimming (when not cold), drinking 8 glass of water everyday are helping, and one last advise, overcome any kind of problem. That is the positive thing I learned with this kind of condition.

    Thank you.

Hi, this post may be long, but I hope it does help a bit.

I have had bad breath for a long time, since my teen years. I didn't know it till a few people mentioned it, because it is true most times it is hard for us sufferers to smell the foul smells coming from our mouth and/or nose. And of course, like many of you I became self conscious and embarrassed. So, I sought professional help for my halitosis ( I didn't know then that's the term for bad breath). The first doctor, my family doctor, would tell me, he didn't smell anything. He had me blow through a special bottle that determines if one has bad breath, but the test was negative. A second doctor told me the same thing. A third doctor, told me I had no bad breath, but she did smell mucus smell coming from my nose and thought I had some kind of sinus infection. She pressed my face (between the nose and cheeks) to see if I felt pain and it did hurt a bit. She recommended a pill I can't remember the name of, however I do remember the side effect/allergic reaction of that pill; goosebumps all over my body, some of which I still have today. I believe it did help. However, I still had my bad breath. Once in university I visited the campus dentist who specialized in halitosis. He did a test (I believe it was a tongue swab) to determine if I had the bacteria (helicobacter pylori) that causes bad breath. I had an infestation. To kill the bacteria he recommended a treatment that is very expensive. I was determined to get rid of bad breath once and for all. Over the next year or so I had a couple of treatments that consisted of a substance that was painted on my teeth and in addition he recommended a tongue scraper and a special oxygen toothpaste and gargle solution. The bacteria count was getting low. But to completely remove it I would have to spend more money for other applications of the same substance. But I decided I would stick only with the oxygen products. Over the next couple of years I had little bad breath but I'm sure the number of bacteria was growing, so I decided to just accept my condition. With perfume, candies and gum and oral routine I managed to have to a have a social life and two kids. Years later, I searched for another less expensive solution and tried TheraBreath products. I abandoned those because I thought they were temporary remedies not cures. Recently I sought the advice of my new family doctor and she told me that a diet in raw fruits and vegetables is recommended for halitosis. I do consume a lot refined sugars, but am trying to incorporate fruits and veggies as much as possible. This doctor did blood work on me a year ago. I was thinking I had diabetes because my mouth is dry a lot but all I had was an irregular blood pressure.

I have started to research causes and treatments of smells coming from the nose because within the last year or so I have noticed that during hot humid days I can smell a mucus smell coming from my nose. I will try the recommendations many of you have posted: to drink lots of water, nasal sprays, special oils, and special yogourts. If all that fails I will seek professional help, perhaps I'll get my doctor to describe another mucus dissolving pill, or I'll ask for a test to determine if I have helicobacter pylori in my stomach, which could be the case if I have it in my mouth.

Before I end, I'll write what I just read about h. pylori. It is present in the stomach beneath the mucus layer coated with acid. It can cause ulcers and other worse conditions. It can cause bad breath. It is acquired by coming in contact with it and usually during childhood. This last part got my attention, because when I was little I was so curious (I still am actually) that I wanted to taste poo. I tasted the tip of my own stool. Also my siblings and I played with soil, I consumed bits of it during our pretend play. Could I have acquired the bacteria then? Possibly. But growing up in a tropical country I ate lots of readily available raw fruits and vegetables. Maybe consuming these did help to keep their levels low. As a teen I moved to a developed country, where I live now, and my diet changed. My family started consuming more animal products, more refined and packaged foods. Remember some people are more prone to catching things. No one else in my family has halitosis, except when they wake up maybe or when they have a cold. When people have a cold, water is used up in sneezing, coughing and mucus production. Also, speaking from personal experience, I can say that constantly thinking about this problem and being self conscious is not good. I have found that becoming more spiritual and being closer to God has helped too. As a teenager and young adult I struggled a lot about it but as I got older I was able to handle it more. Hang in there, this problem is not the end of the world.

Gosh another pill. Geez man, I've had this mess since 1995 and two surgeries later I'm still a ferris wheel of mucus. It's disgusting and I hate going anywhere with slime coming out all ends. It even drips--very fast--a lot of time when I bend over for something. If my nose goes south, its over. Gosh it feels good to relate to other people for a change.

    Love this thread!

GOD... He will help us all... I pray, its in His hands anyway... Thank you Jesus! It seems to me that these 'sign the petition' things we see on the web... we should be able to start one of those and at the very least encourage doctors to take a fresh look at an old problem. Hey, I have a cardiologist in the family and I bet if I were to mention it to him, maybe he could tell me where to start. Hey, I'm an idealist and if someone can write it and spread the word then what's stopping me? :)

Ps.. I am slightly bipolar :D

I am having a problem with my nose as well, every time I exhale around people they cover their nose or move away also when I speak... sometimes I get an odor smells like poop. The doc says its my sinus but I'm using the nasal rinse also I had a endoscopy done to make sure it wasn't something in my stomach and still I am having this problem. I also try patanse nasal spray. I am so frustrated I hardly associate myself with anyone I don't know what else to do. Right now I've decide to just pray about the situation nothing else seem to help and I know God is the only answer right now so just to let everyone know trust him and let him take care of the situation
