    Divorce Laws
My step son recently left his wife of 5 months due to unreconciliable differences. They have been together about three years but did not marry until April 1, 2007. They got married in New Orleans aboard a cruise liner. My question is are there different divorce or annulment laws that govern the state of Louisiana and in order to file the appropriate papers can that be done in any county court in Massachusetts ? Any help or advise that you can provide on where to begin in this process would be apreciated

Divorce an annulment laws do vary from staste to state. However, since every state accepts a marriage from any other state, you can file for divorce where you actually live. Depending on how amicable the divorce is, they might be able to get by without an atty. The local Family court should have information for them.
