    Post pαrtum depression
    K well I've been going through this it's pretty nαsty αnd I hαte it-- I hide it well like I sαid I tend to "cαndy coαt" reαlity αt times but isn't fαke hαppiness better thαn none?

    Well my question is:

    It's been 7 months now shouldn't it be gone by now? Should I go to my doctor? I don't wαnt to go on meds. They scαre me..

    * I hαve been going through mαrriαge crαp so I know thαt plαys α pαrt in the whole PPD

    * I don't hαve scαry thoughts αbout killing my bαby, but I hαve to αdmit [k bαd mom right now shun me if you'd like] but I sometimes don't wαnt to see her like I let her cry [not hours on end but for like 10 min αt most] like I get mαd αt her sometimes, αnd yes I know she's α bαby αnd is needy.. ugh I feel so guilty sαying this.. but sometimes I don't like shαylα αt αll..

    * I cry α lot
    Oh jeeze.. whαt should I do..

    Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry to hear you are feeling like this. You are going through so much right now it's not surprising you are feeling this way.

    Now, as far as PPD, it has been 7 months. You need to be seen by your doctor. Meds can help you get through this rough patch and as far as PPD they are usually temporary, 3-6 months.

    I understand your fear, and it is well-founded. But there are so many meds out there that have very few, if any, side-effects but produce a rewarding gain in self-confidence and happiness.

    Celexa is one for instance, that provides very few side effects.

    True, Sarai. The PPD is scary but you do need to get back to your doctor, especially with all the other things going on in your life. Meds do not need to be long term. I was on anti depressants after my oldest son was born but I took them not even for six months. Just needed something to get me "over the slump" I was in.

    You talked about times where you do not like Shayla - you know every Mom goes through that. Especially when the baby is crying and you have checked everything and it all seems fine. We get tired too and forget to take care of ourselves. Don't be so hard on yourself. Get some help, make sure you are okay and this will work out.

    Hugs to you and Shayla.
