    External hard drives
Ok I have a problem with my external hard drive. When it loads it will be created as drive (G) and it should be drive (F) all of my other hard drives default to (F) when loaded except one it go to (G). The software I use to access the information on the hard drive creates links like
    (F) documents/settings/pics/jpeg123 ECT so when it defaults to the (G) drive I’m unable to access the file
So the question is how I get that hard drive to default to the (F) drive and not the (G) drive
Note: only one external hard drive is hooked up at a time. And the hard drives are the same make and size.

If this is XP, just right-click on My Computer, go into Manage and then to Disk Management where you can change the drive letter.

    If this doesn't work then:

The drive letters are maintained in the registry at:
    HKEY_Local_Machine\system\MountedDevices

    You could change it there.

Note that editing the registry can corrupt your system, so have a backup and be careful.
