I am located in Chicago, make our family complete
-- HOW DO I SEARCH TO FIND HIM--CAN I JUST PUT AD IN PAPER?

I have known my husband for 7 years and we just got married last month. I have 2 kids from a previous relationship. And they were brought into my new relationship when they were 2yrs and 2mnths of age. Well know my kids are 9 yrs, and 7 yrs old and they only know my husband as their dad and know one else.
They never seen their biological father, so to them he is a stranger. None the less he has been locked up,gang banger, abandoned his kids, uses drugs, etc.
    He is unfit.
But that's where I am stuck I do not know any location to were he is
I looked in white pages online and found something with his name and he is know living in either 2 different states. So I really don't know where he is and like I said I have not seen him since 4 years. And that was even brief. But he has never seen my kids and my kids have never seen him.
OK I know I have to get his consent
But here is my question HOW? How do I find him to actually get his consent/ and even if I did what if he won't give it me. But I have all the evidence to prove that he is unfit.
I live in Chicago,IL and I talked with someone from putative father registry. She told me if he has never registered after 30 days or before children were born. Then he basically gave up his consent. So she told me I can pay them 40 per child "which is for 2" to have them look the biological father up to see if he had registered and if he hasn't then, I can go to the clerks office and start the adoption process. I need help can someone lead me towards the right direction so I can complete this final stage in my life. I also want to know if I can place an ad in any local paper to even do the search and if he doesn't respond then go from there

Contact a family law attorney in your area. They know the laws on this better than anyone. They guide you in the right direction.

I agree. There are many family laws as well as loop holes. A lawyer will be able to tell you what to do in a simple way.. step 1, step 2, step 3, etc. Just make sure you get legal advice to make sure everything is covered. Good luck!

I agree with the others - a lawyer is your best bet.

I agree that a family attorney may be the best route here but another thought and possibly less expensive may be to contact an adoption agency. Now I know most of you are going to yell at me and say that is for someone who is looking for a child to adopt. But they have adoption specialists that work the any type of adoption. Whether its like this case or you found a child on your own etc. good luck to you and I am glad to hear that you are with someone and things are good.
