91 civic overheating after
Hi
I replaced the timing belt , distributor, water pump, thermostat and all the belts on my 91 civic LX. This car had been a faithful car so I spent the money.
After that, the car started overheating and losing coolant from the radiator (radiator leak) so I bought a new radiator and installed it. The car still overheats with both fans working and even with the thermostat out/
Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you checked the integrity of all radiator and bypass hoses, which can collapse and cause overheating.
Inexpensive silicated coolants can cause silt to build up in the engine's water jacket as well as the radiator, providing an impediment to free flow of coolant. Honda recommends that you use their coolant and no others in their cars. You may need to thoroughly flush the system.

Be sure to burp all the air out of the system with the engine running.

You could be leaking coolant into the combustion chamber, check if there is white smoke coming out of your exhaust, if there is then you blew a water jacket and need to get a new head and check the rest of the engine to make sure nothing else is damaged.

Hi,
I bought a 92 Civic 115k miles, runs great but overheats. Changed radiator, thermostat, relay and hoses. It appears that the fan does not turn on when idling or when I turn it off. When on the highway it runs cool. The mechanics can't find what's wrong. Could it be the sending unit?
