I just got FIOS and it's great but this is the firt time I had wireless.

I had a few friends over for the 4th and we started talking and I asked if
Its possible for people to see what I'm looking at on my computer somehow
And one guy says it is possible, I argued about it and he could not prove himself so I droped the subject but now I'm wondering if this is true anyone have a clue

Security or not this should be unduable in my eyes.

    Thanks

When you send data packets from your computer, they can be intercepted at various points. If you are using a WiFi connection, the packets are broadcast over the air and anyone within range with the right software can read them. Once the packets go outside your network and onto the Internet, they can be intercepted as they pass from router to router across the Net.

So its definitely POSSIBLE for your data to be intercepted. Its also possible for some remote control software to be surreptitiously installed on your system that would allow someone to see what you are doing.

The reality, though, is that this is highly unlikley to happen. You still want to protect yourself using encryption, firewalls, anti-spyware software etc. So while its possible, its not something to be paranoid about.

There are a number of software out there that can log on your Wireless network and that person logged on your network can view anything you are doing including your credit details.

The best protection is to use password for logging on the network, that way you don't make it easy for someone to use your connection and harm or steal information...
