    Can anyone tell me what does the sound "lee" or "ly" means in Chinese?

    Lee can mean lots of things, is that a verb or noun or adj or adv and what context is it in? And what tone is it?( there are four tones) and make sure it's Chinese not Japanese, because there is the same term "lee" in Jap means differently...

    Yes, in Chinese.
    Someone told me it means "beauty" or something similar. I would like to know if that's right.
    Should I ask you what's the Chinese word for "beauty"? The noun

    Lee (Li) is a chinese family name, Ly' is when it translate into vietnamese... but if you mean NI which may sound like lee, NI mean YOU

    Actually,Lee and Ly are both chinese family names!And their pinxin are the same,that is li,but the tone for lee is the third,and the tone for ly is the second.If someone know CANTONESE,they will understand Lee and Ly well!
    There are so many chinese words for Beauty,such as (pinyin) piao liao,mei ren...
    Anyone who want to know something about chinese or eager to learn chinese,please just let me know!:)

    If you have a look at this online Chinese translator and search the word 'li' as pinyin, you will find all the different meanings for the sound 'lee'

    Pig maybe "zhu", you maybe "ni", and qiut maybe "fang qi".

    I don't know how you guys to learn Chinese, but I know "pinyin", because I'm Chinese. My teacher told me that foreigners learnt Chinese just for the sound...

    Lee or Li is a family name of chinese origin. Lee was the royal surname.
