    Exposed romex
    Does revised nec permit romex in exposed area of work shed?

    I know they allow romex about anywhere, now. I hate it. If you don't have bender for metal pipe(EMT) use PVC and glue. You can easily add circuits or pull extra wires, if needed. Romex is good for end of line. But, when you wire a whole house, future modifications are costly, and destructive.

    It depends, but the general rules are: NM, NMC, and NMS Exposed wiring shall be protected from physical damage ( Note: This can be debated). Where necessary it shall be protected--using conduit, EMT, sch 80 PVC, guard strips, and other listed means. It shall follow the surface of the building finish, or of running boards.

    Extra note: Code is mute on running NM in conduit, but depending on your run, and terminations, you may have to do a conduit fill calculation.
