Dogs usually eat grass when they have an upset stomach. Grass can help them digest their food, or get rid of the tummy owies.

Dogs are really amazing. They actually know which type of grass to eat for different stomach ailments.

What it means is that your dog isn't feeling well, and he's trying to make himself feel better.

Have you recently changed foods? Did he get into the garbage, or something else he shouldn't be allowed to get into?

Your dog is just enjoying the first signs of spring :)

Although eating grass for an upset stomach is true, its not iron clad... dogs eat grass just to eat grass.

Domesticated dogs are omnivores.. eating grass is not abnormal. If he is eating grass excessively, then he may have an upset tummy.

I will add a word of caution - if you or a neighbor uses chemicals on your OR his lawn and garden be very careful where your dog is "grazing."

Very good point, had to spread the rep. I'm fine with our dogs eating our grass. We never fertilize, or add chemicals. But you never know what your neighbors are doing to their lawn. There are chemicals that could make your dog seriously ill, or even kill your dog.

Why are you stopping him? Some dogs are just naturally grass eaters.
