Owner not fixing sewage problem is it dangerous?
I rent my place and I reported the sewage backing up two months ago and maintenance people came and pumped it out.. The maintenance men told me they were going to have to get a tractor out here to dig up and find the lines so the can see if it is stopped up.. I keep telling them I smell it in the house. How can I get them to come and fix the problem, and is the smell dangerous to me and my children. What steps do I take to get them to do this job?

Are you complaining about then smell or a back ups?

That doesn't make sense! You snake a line for stoppages and only get a backhoe in to dig if you have a break in the line. Can you tell me where the smell's the strongest? Back to you, Tom

Contact the landlord and tell him that if the problem's not repaired immediately you will be making a complaint to both then Health and Building Departments. That should get some action. You are living in a health hazard that MUST be addressed ASAP. This is not healthy for you or your family. Don't wait! Do it NOW! Good luck and keep me informed. Tom

Contact your local Health Department and tell them what you've told me. They'll take it from there. Good luck, Tom
