Can my ex domestic partner reopen a joint account?
My ex partner reopened a joint account that had been closed for 7.5 months. The account was in both his and my name originally. He was notified that an electronic deposit (mine) was sent. The funds were from a government agency that I had forgotten about. He reopened the account, transferred the funds and then closed the account again. Shouldn't the bank have rejected the electronic transfer? Shouldn't I have been notified since my name was on the account?

I think that you contact your bank and tell them the situation. Since the account was already closed I think they will look into the situation. Good luck.

It should not be possible to open a closed account, You need to discuss this with the bank.

Next why did you have the money sent to a closed account ?

You may have to file charges with the police and sue him for the money.

Once again this is very incorrect legal advice - in a JOINT ACCOUNT anything and everything in that account is joint property, as much yours as it is the other person's. There is no "mine" and "yours." Once funds are placed in an account they belong to both people.

A bank account cannot be closed while there are funds in it - any funds. If it is to be closed to any activity you must notify the bank in writing. Happened to me (by my ex-husband) - that's how I know. Made for a good legal argument, by the way.

To OP - why did you consider the account to be closed?

You have been told how the legal boards work. Accuracy is important. What you "think" does not matter. The law matters. Please don't guess at answers on the legal boards.
