    Possession of stolen property over 5000 forum?
    What is the usual sentence for possession of a stolen quad?This will be my first theft charge.Also the quad was a 2001 and not worth five thousand.I was in alberta canada.

    There is no "usual" sentence. How were you charged? Simple theft, something else?

    Good you stole an older model.

    I didn't steal it I bought from someone without knowing it was stollen.I was riding it and got pulled over.What do you think will happen?

    Then you are not guilty as charged. See about diversion, but if you do end up accepting a plea, insist on a lesser charge.

    What's a quad? Some sort of automobile?

    The statement, "this will be my first (theft) charge"
    So it makes me believe that are other charges they have been charged with.

    So if you have been charged with other felony, most likely there will be no diversion program, also most times felony will not have a program

    1. provide proof ( present evidence) at trial, to show who you bought it from, proof of you paying for it, a cancelled check, a receipt and so on.

    2. get it reduced to under 5000 by providing proof, of the value. Present evidence of the value of the unit
