    Nebulizer = Asthma?
    When my daughter was 2 1/2 years old she was given a nebulizer for a cold that she was fighting and she was having respitory issues associated with the cold. She was diagnosed at an Immediate Care and they stated that she may have asthma.

    She is now 7 1/2 years old and has never had any further complications or asthmatic attacks. She does not have an inhaler and has never officially to my knowledge been diagnosed with asthma.

    Does this mean that she has asthma or does not? Does she have a history of asthma?

    (Her father - separated and I have a difference of opinion on this matter and I would like some perspective.)

    I was dignosed with Asthma when I was about 5-6 years old and have had it ever since. I would say no she does not have asthma however, that does not mean that she might not develop asthma some day.

    Just because she was given a nebulizer once for respitory issues from a cold does not mean she has asthma. You said it’s been five years since she had any respitory problems and has never been diagnosed. Well I think that is confirmation enough that she is not as asthmatic.

    If she had asthma she would have had some kind of problems in the last few years. It is quite possible that when she was 2 ½ she had an upper respitory infection which looks and feels a lot like asthma.

    Two,of my three children have asthma. The problems started as early as 5 months of age for both of them.My daughter,now 8 years old still has asthma related problems. For me, the older they get the better for their asthma.If I were you I would play it safe and keep an inhaler or nebulizer close by,just in case of an attack.But I wouldn't worry too much if your child has had no more attacks for a period of years. It could have been an allergic reaction.
