Electric Start furnace keeps shutting down.
We have a Rheem gas furnace its about 9years old. Model # RGPH05EAUER and s/n FD5D302F020109611. Help! It keeps shutting down. The furnace is electric start and the ignitor works. Issue: The flame starts then shuts down 5 seconds after burner ignites. This continues repeatedly. Note: blower works and gas is feeding the unit.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

You need to clean the flame sensor with sand paper.

Thanks for the below info and pictures.

I went to try the below suggestions. Discovered that now the furnace won't do anything... it just humms...

Please note this was prior to cleaning the flame sensor this am. I still cleaned it just in case but still nothing only a humming noise.

    Oh Lord, what now?

    This was your post.

The cure for this problem is what I gave you. Now you say it only hums? Hums was not mentioned before your second post.

STOP cleaning the flame sensor. It only takes a minute to do that job and you can rub it all you want but that will not make the furnace run any better.

Where is the HUM coming from. Exact location?

It wasn't humming prior (this is why it wasn't mentioned), the humming was just discovered when I went to go clean the flame sensor. I can't pin point the exact location but I do know its not coming from the blower motor.

When the humming starts put your hand on the inducer motor. See if you can feel it vibrating.
